2010-2011, Present Video Games and Games to look Forward too

This year has really been an overwhelming year for the gaming industry and its fans. But from what I hear, 2011 has a few surprises.

But let’s start off with some of the 2010 games that seem to have struck a lot of game fans:

Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty

There were a lot of people who liked the first Starcraft game, and it is arguably to be one of the best real time strategy games out there.

So, blizzard decided to up the game a notch and lord behold, 12 years later, the Starcraft Series has returned. More units, IMPROVED graphics, and the campaign mode have changed completely. Every action has a different consequence, good or bad. As well, the multiplayer aspect for the game is pretty sick. But, the downside, just a small downside, is that you must have an account to play and there is no LAN option.

Mass Effect 2

If you were a fan of the first mass effect, than you got to try out the new one. BioWare has really done a great job with the Mass Effect series as well as the Dragon’s Age Origins, and Knights of the Old Republic, but Mass Effect 2 is pretty much the HUGE CHERRY on the cake that generated more positive reviews.

With that, BioWare is probably in the making of new games and continuation of the old games to satisfy the needs and wants of gamers all alike. And who knows? They might even introduce new game series.

God of War 3

This game is a must have for you hack and slash fans as well as fans of the God of War series.

The graphics in this game are much better than God of War 2. The plot line would make an amazing movie. In fact, the whole series would make an amazing trilogy and without doubt, I think it would smash critics and gain major ratings in the movie industry. If the series was ever made into one.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2

I have to say, this game is amazing. If you are a fan of any other battlefield games, you have to try out Bad Company 2. The game play is much similar to the BC1 but the additions are just what make BC2 even better. Graphics are noticeably better than BC1. Better use of weapons and in addition to that more weapons.

As for the campaign mode, it’s amazing. With the slight improvement on the graphics, the scenery for the landscape, buildings and gameplay is amazing. Especially if you’re lucky enough to have a big screen HD TV as well as surround sounds.

As for the multiplayer side, once again, BC2 gets you hooked on the multi player aspect because of the character development and unlocking weapons and clothing. Other than that, it’s like a mix of RTS and 1st person shooter. Because in order to be successful; you and your team must form out a strategy in order to win. Unlike in CoD where you just go around shooting people.

Red Dead Redemption

This game is simply amazing... If you’re a fan of the GTA series, you have got to try out Red Dead Redemption. It is without question in the top 5 in game rankings. Pound for pound in free roaming games and it’s probably going to stay up there for a while.

Unlike GTA though, it’s based in the Wild West, and it’s pretty much the same game style where you just go around and shoot people. Instead of cars, there are horses and instead of grenades, you get the old school red dynamite with the string attached.

Games to look Forward too 2010-2011

These are some upcoming games that hopefully will be major hits on the game industry of mid 2010s to 2011.

Call of Duty: Black Ops

CoD Modern Warfare 2 was a big hit, so hopefully Black Ops will be good too. From what the trailer looks like, you’ll be able to use crossbows. There is also gameplay footage and the graphics have been put up a notch. All you CoD fans get organized, because they’ll be calling a new breed of soldiers to the front lines.

Fable 3

The Fable series have been popular series for some time and has had a major impact on RPGs and adventure games. Fable 3 should bring a whole new gameplay experience. From what the gameplay shows:

  • There isn’t a traditional game menu any more, the second you hit the start button, you’ll enter the game world
  • In this game, you’ll be acting as a ruler to the people of Albion; you can either be the great hero that leads the people of Albion to safety and salvation, or the tyrant that causes utter destruction and suffering
  • Instead of picking and using spells to cast from the HUD, you must have specific armor to cast certain spells, with that there will also be a bunch of new up coming spells
  • In addition to the ruler aspect, whatever you do will have a great affect on environment and people of Albion
  • The game will also take place 50 years from Fable 2, so you can expect changes in the many cities of Albion and new monsters

These are only a few of the changes, many more to come.

Assassains Creed: Brotherhood

Assassains Creed has really shot up in game rankings recently and had a “Tyson” like rise to fame earlier this year. Coming out on November 16, 2010 is the third installment of the seires; Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood

I can tell you that one of the major additions is that you can now recruit people and have them do missions themselves, or order them to assist you when you go out and do your bidding.

As well you will be able to invest in Rome ruins so it can be rebuilt, and through this you will be gaining rewards as you go along. There will also be a few new moves you can do. With that, the fighting system will be much improved.

Dead Rising 2

For all you fans that loved the first Dead Rising, I have great news. Dead Rising 2 will be coming out on September 28th and all I can say is: Brace yourself for an AWESOME experience.

There are MANY new additions to the game. For instance making of new weapons; for example taping up a grenade to a football and tossing it. Being able to ride a bike BUT having chainsaws on it. If you ask me, that would be crazy. With all of the additions, you will be playing as a Chuck Greene, a rock star from what the trailer shows at a rich city.

So all you fans out there, start saving now because I know for a fact that Dead Rising 2 will not be an upset.

Gears of War 3

Gears of War was once amongst the most popular games of 2006 and 2008 and are making an return to consoles on April 5th.

The game will feature many new weapons and environment as well as introducing four player co-op mode with the addition of 3 female characters.

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

Fans of the other Prince of Persia games should be looking forward to the new one that is coming out on May 18th. Once again you take the control of the Prince and you must battle your way through enemies.

But with this, there will be new ways of combat. For instance The Forgotten Sands will be introducing “Elemental Powers” you can use to dispose of enemies. There are 4 elements: Fire, Ice, Wind and Earth. And all I can say is, you can fight up to 50 people at once, and for wind elements, you can cast a tornado. So 50 people + a tornado and what do you get? A pretty crazy scene.

So fans get ready, cause the prince is coming back!

Final Fantasy XIV

Final Fantasy fans should brace for impact, because their coming out with another awesome series of the Final Fantasy Saga.

There will be a Skill-based experience similar to Final Fantasy 2. You can also create your own avatar in the game by choosing from 5 different races, similar to that of the online Final Fantasy game.

As well, the job and equipping system have changed. For example if you become a blacksmith, your look will change and be different from that of a person who would gather food or supplies. And depending on the weapon you use, it will affect how your class and character react. Weapons will also affect character development.

RPG lovers and Final Fantasy fans should get ready for some more action pack adventure.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm

Lovers of WoW, get geared up for the arrival of Deathwing. The World of Warcraft expansion will bring about 2012 like changes to the game’s environment and bring about new monsters and quests.

Here are a few new things to look forward to in this expansion:

  • Level cap raised to 85, so prepare for new adventures that await
  • Two new playable classes: Worgen and Goblin
  • Get ready to see a whole new different world of Azeroth as never been seen before
  • Flying mounts now usable in Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms
  • New secondary skill: Archaeology, so be ready to uncover secrets of Azeroth never seen before
  • And so forth

For all you WoW fans, be prepared for major changes in gameplay and environment and be ready to encounter new enemies.

Final Words

I only scratched not even a quarter of the surface of the gaming industry for 2010-2011. There are many games out there that have come out this year and are going to come out in the next few months. But I can tell you this; these upcoming years will be revolutionary to the gaming world. And games will get better and better as technology grows. Before we know it, there could be a game system that engulfs you into a virtual world.
